Lacrosse Boat Ball

Hello fashion lovers

Just thought I would write a quick post about my look for my Lacrosse Boat Ball on Saturday! The night was actually amazing, (many bottles of wine were consumed) and I absolutely loved my dress. So while the focus of this blog is normally vintage, I want to show that looking good, even for formal events, doesn't have to break the bank! Us poor students eh...

I went for black (of course) as it's effortlessly chic and slimming to boot. Spaghetti straps are everywhere at the moment, and while this trend can be difficult for "ladies with a large bust" (ha) if you invest in a strong supportive bra there is no reason you can't rock this trend. For ladies with this problem I suggest Boux Avenue as they seem to be the ONLY decent high street brand that go above a DD.  A little bit pricey, but 100% worth it. (10% off for students too.)
I decided to be a little bit daring and follow in the footsteps of Angelina and Rihanna (a girl can dream right?)  with a split leg dress. This really worked with my bright statement shoe, which I used to bring a summery feel to my look.

The pictures are far from professional, but thought I'd give you guys an update anyway!

My Fabulous Finds- Part 2

Hello Strangers!

It has been absolutely ages since I posted, but I've been so busy with exams and essay writing that unfortunately my lovely blog has had to take a backseat :( Haven't been able to hit the shops really, although I did buy a lovely dress from Oh My Love for my lacrosse ball (shock horror it isn't pre-worn like the rest of my wardrobe) but I thought I would treat me self to something new! I might post pics of it another time.

Anyway, as I haven't got any new stock to show you, I thought I'd do another post on one of "My Fabulous Finds" (I still can't get over that catchy title). You know, I don't even know how to describe this piece, but it is definitely one of my favourites. I literally wear it all the time, and it is so versatile! I'm pretty sure it's a love hate thing and most of you are going to be like "wtf is she wearing" but I don't care because it's my favourite statement shirt, I got it from a charity shop and it ISN'T BLACK. FOR ONCE.
oh and I love my vintage Levi's denim jacket, it was such a bargain!

Sunglasses- Raybans
Denim Jacket- Vintage Levi's, Ebay for £7
Shirt- Charity shop for £4
Shorts- Topshop half price for £20
Cutout Boots- River Island

Pastel turquoise turtleneck

I never thought I would see the day when an item titled "Pastel turquoise turtleneck" made it onto my fashion blog, but as we all know fashion can be ridiculously unpredictable! One of the reasons i love this piece is because it encompasses a number of trends straight from the runway while also being easily wearable. Turtlenecks were huge this autumn/winter and this piece takes the huge winter trend effortlessly into summer. One of New York fashion week's most wearable trends was Pastel. These pretty colours are flattering, feminine and wearable no matter what the occasion. Not only does this piece fit into all of these trends, but also the mini trend of "Clueless nineties". If you've been reading my blog, you will know i'm pretty mad for 90's fashion at the moment, and this piece looks like it comes straight out of the cult film "Clueless".
Make like Iggy Azalea in her latest video "Fancy" and channel your inner 90's chick.

The pastel turquoise turtleneck is on sale at £13

Floral detail white shirt

We're keeping up with the 90's mania here at Throwaway with our GROUNDBREAKING floral white shirt.
This floaty sleeveless shirt is perfect for spring/summer 2014, the floral detail adding a cute touch to this wardrobe essential. Tucked into a pair of high-waisted denim shorts or flowing over a pair of skinnies, this shirt is flattering and as "The Devil Wears Prada" has taught us, on-trend year after year.

The Floral detail white shirt is on sale at £10

The Over-sized Denim Shirt

This spring/summer we're still feeling the powerful influence of 90's fashion on the runways. Denim is back in a big way, this vintage shirt adding a laid-back bohemian feel to any outfit. With this summer's festivals thundering quickly towards us, the over-sized denim shirt is perfect to effortlessly create 90's chic, while also being versatile enough to wear in British summer.

Rihanna showed us how to work the denim shirt as she stepped out earlier this year, the shirt making her casual look on-trend yet sexy.

The Over-sized Denim Shirt is on Sale at £11

It's been a while...

Hey!

So it's been a while since I last posted, but fear not, there are more bargain's to be had! It's been a very busy week for me as the end of term approached at an alarming rate, and I had to get myself orgainsed! I also published an article on my uni newspaper The Wessex Scene which was very exciting!

But it's so great to be home (journey home was a nightmare-I do not travel light) and typical me, i've already been searching for some vintage pieces! Found a really great denim shirt so will be shooting that soon, and lots more photoshoots coming up.

Keep your eye's peeled for more fabulous finds!

Grunge long sleeve top

Glam grunge is here!

If you've actually been keeping your eyes open for the last year, you'll be aware that the grunge/ heroin chic of the 90's has come back with full force, with chunky boots, baggy vest tops,  plaid shirts and leather bombarding the highstreet.  However the runways of 2014 gave a little twist to this trend by ditching the baggy over-sized plaid shirts (they get tied around your waist) and embracing the tight fitting and glamorous.

This edgy top just screams 90's, and teamed with a plaid or leather skirt and my old favourite red lipstick, you could be a glam grunge fashionista in no time.

So I managed to bag a photoshoot with the gorgeous Melinda Evans (@melinda_evans) who has the absolute highest honour of being our very first Throwaway Fashion model! After embarrassing myself by getting lost in my own city (standard) we managed to get some great shots!

So enough rambling from me, take a look at the pics and get buying!

Rare Daisy Shirt

Is it possible to be in love with a shirt?

I think it is. This is my absolute favourite vintage piece, and I am soo tempted to just keep it for myself. However as I am a kind and generous human being i'm giving you the opportunity to give me cash for it! (what a saint!) But seriously, as spring comes hurtling along, this floral daisy print is absolutely adorable and would look perfect tucked into a pair of high waisted shorts and a dash of red lippy.

Vintage Tweed Blazer

TALLY HO!

Yes that's right, we've got a vintage Jaeger tweed blazer in stock at a bargain price! This fitted blazer is very high quality and looks fantastic with rolled up sleeves.  If you want to feel a bit posh then this is the blazer for you, and teaming it with this years biggest shoe trend the 'Chelsea Boot' you might just get asked to appear on Made in Chelsea. Maybe...

The Black 'Boyfriend' Coat

So here is my first piece, the vintage black 'boyfriend' coat.

As we all know the 'boyfriend' coat was the only coat to have this winter and by the looks of things the trend doesn't seem to be stopping at spring! This coat is perfect for those chilly spring days, or a classy addition to any evening outfit.  I absolutely love the faux fur lining on the collar and lapel, which gives a luxury to this on trend piece. And of course it's black! Anyone can clearly see from looking into my colourless wardrobe that 'once you go black, you never go back'.
ha.

Plans Plans Plans!

Exciting day today, trawling shop after shop looking for some exciting vintage pieces. I love shopping way to much for someone who has no money.  Found some really unique and on trend pieces and i'm so excited to style and shoot them!
Now my only obstacle is that all my model friends are either at uni or back home in Surrey, meaning I will have to wait until I go back home for Easter. Ain't nobody got time for that! In the mean time I may have to spam you all with more pics of me...
If you are a model near the Southampton or Surrey area contact me if you want to get involved.

Friday 14 March 2014

I'll start off with my favourite, the Red Blazer. This little beauty cost me £4 from my local charity shop and has been a staple in my wardrobe ever since. As I am the queen of black clothing, this red blazer adds a chic burst of colour to any drab outfit and goes so well with a bit of red lippy. Fashionistas at London Fashion Week also saw red as they teamed an daring red jacket with black accessories creating a eye-catching contrast- check out their looks below the pics of me standing awkwardly (ha).

This is another great vintage jacket, costing me only £7 from a vintage sale held at my uni. I love the strong structure of this jacket as well as the short crop, making it so versatile. Again as my wardrobe is mostly black, this creates a great monotone look, the gold stitching giving the outfit a luxe feel. When I first found this jacket, I wasn't quite sure about it but here's a tip people- IT'S ALL ABOUT STYLING. My motto is if you're unsure, buy it anyway! Maybe that's why i'm so poor...
